Ms. Eyerman reviewed each section of the tax budget that will be submitted to the county auditor with the Board and those in attendance. She explained the purpose of the budget and what the County Auditor uses the data to accomplish.

Mr. Kowalski took this time to recognize the Board members for their service to the District. He presented certificates from OSBA and from Coshocton City Schools to commend and recognized them for their service.

Dr. Butcher shared that he and Terri will be meeting with Rotary to make a presentation for a donation for the scoreboard.

Mr. Kowalski stated that we will be securing other donations to cover the cost of the scoreboard.


12. Public Announcement

Pursuant to the Coshocton City Board of Education Policy 0147 and Ohio Revised Code: 

"A Board member may request coverage for himself/herself and/or family in the District's group health care plan.  The Board member must pay all premiums for the coverage and must exercise this option in writing, announced at a regular meeting and recorded in the minutes.  This does not constitute "pecuniary interest" in any contract. (R.C. 3313.12, 3313.202)

In accordance with this policy it is publicly announced that Dr. Jere Butcher has requested in writing to participate in the District's group health insurance at his own expense.

15.1 Updates

Minutes

Mr. Kowalski began his discussion by addressing the two 2-hr delays and two calamity days the district has had so far this year. He stated that "we are on the heels of the other county districts."  Mrs. Mann stated that she has heard a lot of favorable comments from staff and community members for calling early. Mr. Kowalski gave credit to Jake Conrad, who helps a great deal with this and for all he does for us. 

He thanked the Board again for all they do and stated that he looks forward to a full year with the board. He wanted to make everyone aware of possible legislation regarding an increase to the district share of STRS.  He stated that currently, the Board pays 14% of each employee's salary to their pension. He shared that there is legislation on the table to raise that to 18%. We will keep an eye on it as we go toward the next legislative year.

Mr. Kowalski also recognized Clay Davis who is moving from a substitute rate onto the salary schedule. We also have added a permanent substitute to be approved tonight as well that will be working at the elementary building..


15.2 114.1-2024 Personnel

It is recommended that the Board of Education approve the following personnel items pending required paperwork, licensure, and BCI/FBI Background checks.  Salary placement is per the negotiated agreement subject to verification of degree and experience:
